01/15/2004 Archived Entry: "More on Live Action!"

Well there are some minor news about the upcoming DBZ movie. There is a new plot summary, It is short and much like the one summarized before.

"When a mysterious being with superhuman powers abducts Son Goku's son, he and his hated enemy must band together to defeat this threat. But when this encounter ends with Goku's death, Piccolo learns of a greater threat: two more aliens are coming to Earth, and they are even stronger then he is. Armed with this knowledge, Piccolo takes it upon himself to train Goku's son and warn the Earth's warriors. However, Goku's journey does not end with his own death..."

Looks like they will be doing the saiyan saga, It will be nice to see the saga's of DBZ played in a live action, but in my opinion new story lines are needed.

The working title at the moment is "Dragon Ball Z: Unlimited". The running time is ~176 minutes, less than 3 hours. and the rating is PG-13.

What's REALLY interesting is that Hanz Zimmer (Music Producer of: The Rock , Spirit , Gladiator , Pirates of the Caribbean and Last Samurai) will be doing the music for the movies. Being a huge fan of Zimmer myself, this is great news. Zimmers has done extraordinary work and is an excellent composer.

The date of the movie seems to be 2004 according to IMDB but I doubt that. I have heard from the insiders of a teaser.....but the date is not certain.

Stay tuned for more news on FUNimation and it's releases. And perhaps a 2004 music video showcase.

hey shadow LISTEN! This news isn't really confirmed. No one is saying it is true but they are saying what most likely could be. And some ppl are letting a little bit of news out and guess what? THEY WORK WITH THE MOVIE!

Posted by Shanty @ 01/15/2004 11:17 PM EST

More unsubstantiated **** from 007. At least it isn't a made up cast list like his last one. You'd figure he'd be smart enough to realize that a site giving an MPAA rating for a movie IN PRE-PRODUCTION is just posting crap rumors, but no.

Posted by Y @ 01/16/2004 11:48 AM EST

As much as I'm looking forward to this, its gonna either be amazing or absolute gash. The things their gonna have to balance are is it a kids film? or one for everyone? also, i hope they dont blow the budget on actors like bloom and jackman who then dont take it seriously. Lets hope its not like the turtle films eh??

Posted by Guvnor @ 01/16/2004 01:01 PM EST

I hope this movie (if & when it's finally made) will turn out alright. I'm a little worried on how they're going to pull quite a few things off, specifically character-wise.

Wait... what did he mean by a music video showcase?

Posted by Son Gohi @ 01/16/2004 09:22 PM EST

What was wrong with the turtles movies (aside from the 3rd)? Anyone else think that the supposed cast is ridiculous? Park can play krillin.

Confirmed! Like they said a while back about the actors who are going to play in the movie. They mad a big fuzz about it and saying that they confirmed the **** and every one was going crazy, until some website said “the guy was going to make the movie was fired because he was the main cause of the whole delay” so in other words, these people didn’t have a scrip for the freekin movie. I’ll believe this crap when is posted BY FUNimation or 20th century FOX.

I hope that Fox does uses the same technology like they did in the 3rd movie of the matrix. “Rumor” has it that they are going to use the same program that they used in the Life action movie in Spider man.

Another Note, any one has heard anything from that life action evangelion movie?

Posted by ShawDowFX @ 01/17/2004 01:50 PM EST

yeah the fight scene in the matrix revolutions kicked a** If they use it alot then the movie will be a bestseller on DVD.

Posted by Shanty @ 01/17/2004 05:46 PM EST

hey, what happened to that pic of sam wheeler/piccolo they had on this site? Did he get replaced?

Oh, yeah, I liked the turtles movies too.

Must.... See... movie....

Posted by Zalitz @ 01/18/2004 08:12 PM EST

Yeah, I agree with you when you say a new storyline is needed. Dragonball Z as a live action movie would be great, but the only people who will watch it are people that already know the outcome. They should come up with a new plot with new characters and have them do stuff that is still DBZ style but has never been seen before so everyone will be surprised. In case anyone thinks that I'm just saying this and couldn't come up with a new storyline, you're wrong. I already HAVE! HA! HA! HA! I am inVINcible!!!

hmmmmm ive read that exact same paragraph about the plot ages ago

Posted by robotman7 @ 01/22/2004 03:46 PM EST

hey, silverstriker! I have htat magazine too, and it said that's who people voted for. who they want the characters to be played by. ha. the magazine's orange and all about goku and vegeta, right?

Posted by sally @ 01/23/2004 07:45 PM EST

and hey! Yonk! what is your storyline? I hope your new characters aren't more powerful than goku or vegeta, cuz that just wouldn't be right. so there.
Here's my e-mail, if you wanna say something.

uh, we read it and almost all of us trust 007 vegita, it's just shadofx and Y who don't. they're stupid.

FOX is shooting for a PG-13 rating and a running time of 3 to 4 hours. They are hoping for the DBZ Movie Saga to be 4 episodes long (4 movies). Starting in the Saiyan saga, The Frieza Saga, The Android/Cell Saga, and the Buu saga.

George Lucas' CGI company ILM has signed a contract to do the special effects. Bad news though, due to casting, and scheduling difficulties, filming was set to begin real soon, but has been put off until Summer 2004, the ORIGINAL release date. Once the movie is finished and all post-production effects have been added in, this movie may not be out until 2005.

As of now there is no definite title. The most obvious choice would be plain "Dragonball Z", but FOX is also leaning towards "Dragonball Z: Unlimited" or "Dragonball Z: Fight for Mankind"

Goku- Hugh Jackman

Vegeta: Ray Park ( Sleepy Hollow, Star Wars Episode 1, X-men)

Piccolo: Sam Wheeler

Raditz: Jason Bateman (Teen Wolf Two, Necessary Roughness, The Sweetest Thing)

Nappa: Bill Goldberg ( WWE wrestling, Universal Soldier: The Return)

Tien: Orlando Bloom ( Black Hawk Down, Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean

Bulma: Jessica Alba ( P.U.N.K.S, Idle Hands, Dark Angel)

Puar, Oolong, King Kai- Characters will be CGI and the voice actors from the show will be doing these voices.

Director- Roland Emmerich ( Independence Day, The Patriot, Universal Soldier, and Godzilla)

All lies.

According to Yahoo!, so far we have no director, screenwriter, actor, or any crew. I can see many reasons that a live action DBZ film would be great, but ten times more reasons why it would suck ***. What with Matrix 3, at the very least the fight scenes will be enjoyable. My chosen actors:

Vegeta-James Marsters
Yamcha-Johnny Depp
Goku-Keanu Reeves(He can act, quite well sometimes, and if he did seriously act like in the first Matrix, he could do this)
Freeza-Vin Diesel(Scrap Freeza's girly appearance, give Vin his pitch black eyes, and add some CGI and maybe...)
Chi Chi-Nicole Kidman
Kid Buu-Complete CGI, with maybe Andy Serkis doing the voice.
Tien-That guy from The Transporter.
Bulma-Keira Knightly
Teen Gohan-A BIG maybe...Seth Green.

I don't think the appearance is important. As long as the Fox's chosen actors capture the spirit of the character, I will be happy.
