04/12/2004 Archived Entry: "More on the DBZ L.A.M."

To further contribute to the rumor about the cancellation of the DBZ Live Action movie, IMDB has removed the page about its production. The link used to be this one but, as you can see, the page no longer exists. I also made a search in the whole website (just in case they had changed the link), and it was nowhere to be found.

Again, I cannot confirm that the movie has been cancelled, but all the recent events have led us to believe just that. Don't get your hopes up too high about this movie anymore...

EDIT: 007 Vegita will be gone for a while from april the 16th, but he will be back sometime before may, do have your videos ready for submision when he is back.

Still...you never know. It's a gamble, anything can happen. Put your thoughts in the middle side of the equation (whenever for it to happen someday or not).

I'm curious to know what happened that caused them to cancel it.

Posted by Chuquita @ 04/12/2004 05:01 PM EST

HELLO??? The movie never existed in the first place. Ya'll are all like... ummm.. it's uh--been canceled---... when ppl finally got the nerve to call fox up and see if the rumors were true, they said that they didn't have that. I don't care how many "important and trustworthy" fans said they had official news that there was a movie. There was NO comment from fox or FUNimation saying that there was a dbz live action movie. It's like you found out that there wasn't a movie being made so you just say that it was cancelled instead of saying that there wasn't a movie. I'm sry if this sounds redundant, but it's the only way to cram this into your thick skull. I'm asking for trouble with this one aren't I?

Posted by mwzloyal @ 04/13/2004 11:41 AM EST

yeah, sure thats why its all over the official website, almost every anime site has information on it plus: I never believe you guys :P probably trying to get attention

Shut you about this movie, if it doesn't come out it doesn't come out, if it does come it comes out. Until i see a trailer, cast list and everything else, i can't be arsed listening?hearing/seeing anything about it. All it was was a rumour nothing more like all little things people bend the truth and look what happens.

np, as you said Fox, the company the rumour is based on, never said any offical statement with there involvement in this movie. People second guessed who they thought would be able to pull of this movie in spectaclar fasion and this rumour was started a very long time ago.

When this rumour started to spread to forums, people spreaded and changed it to what they would like and then you got simalarities and then it eventually got to IMDB, a bit like cause and effect, something you do has an effect on something else.

Also why if Fox where going to release this massive popular film why would they keep it hidden and not release info about it. Come on if they released this then they would have got so much money and all they are in for it, is the money and fame (even tho they have enough of those as it is). Marvel comic heroes are popular and companies have been made rich of those characters big live action films.

Posted by WarDragon989 @ 04/13/2004 09:27 PM EST

^(finishing my sentence)

So why not get rich of Dragonball Z.

Me, myself was eager to learn more about this 4 part live action film and beleived anything that was posted. How i don't give a f**k, all i want from fox is a statement to prove what the current situation is about this film, is it real or was it a scam made by a couple of people who take things to seriously and not care about other people feelings towards something this popular.

Posted by WarDragon989 @ 04/13/2004 09:35 PM EST

Did you guys think about how come there were pictures of cast of picolo , bulma , chi chi , bla bla in the live action movie section (In the past) even the official dragonballz website ( www.dragonballz.com) also has information saying theres a PG13 film , by fox , on a dragon ball live action movie . If there wasn't a film going to made after all , how did all this rumours started in the first place . Could it be that there actually is a movie being made , but the productors want to keep this a secrect and surprise people ( like we fans )after the whole project is done. Anyway , just a hope in my heart.

Devil :You don't read well. Look at the top of the official dbz site :

UNCONFIRMED - NOT ENDORSED BY FUNimation Productions Ltd.

forst, they make u believe that there is a film, and then ppl finally fin out that there's no movie so they try to cover the tracks by saying that the film was cancelled. ((dbzsc for example)) just learn what i learned, don't trust fans, forums, chats, or real live ppl who are not official representitives of the topic in discussion.

Posted by mwzloyal @ 04/14/2004 11:38 AM EST

^ Devil : I can answer ur question but it would take a while to type out and i don't have the time right now, if u realy want to know, my sn is mwzloyal.

Posted by mwzloyal @ 04/14/2004 11:44 AM EST

Yea.. Thought the movie was too good to be true. Prolly a good thing though, woulda killed DB/Z/GT. Anyway, hate to brag, but I know about the time Naruto vs 007 is coming out!! :P

Posted by Gullwing Vegeta @ 04/14/2004 09:05 PM EST

I Don't know... Its like.. its offcial website like yahoo , imbd , even dragonball itself post all those unconfirm news . And Who the hell is so free making all this stupid Live action movie news . Anyway , I think if theres really a live action movie made , it wouldn't be that bad , even though one dragonball live action movie was made years ago , by china or taiwan or hong kong (cause its in chinese)was really bad that it kind of suck. But look at technology now , I think things would turn out great for a DBZ live action movie. Eg Matrix

Posted by Devil @ 04/14/2004 10:51 PM EST

(((((that movie was made a long time ago and wasn't even dbz, it was like it. it had dragon pearls lol)))))) I think a dbz movie would be interesting, but if there isn't one made, then I don't really care. I'll stick to the anime.

Posted by mwzloyal @ 04/15/2004 10:30 AM EST

I also think it's not going to happen. It'll ruin it forever.

Posted by BDG @ 04/15/2004 11:48 AM EST

Fox sucks, they shut down a cool simpsons website (www.doheth.co.uk) but its back I signed the petition

Posted by hey @ 04/15/2004 01:21 PM EST

Devil, mwzloyal:
First off, the Old DBZ Movie you are referring too was called Dragon Ball. It was Chinese, but when it was dubbed in English, for no reason whatsoever, they changed the words Dragon Balls into Dragon Pearls. No, I did not see it, but it sounds like it sucks. You can check IMDB for info on that.
Also, the fact that fox has not reliesed a official statement really pissed me off, and if they never had rights to do this movie, then they should say that. And why the hell have they waited so long to tell us. I know many of you do not care, but there are also many people who do care, and they should at least take that into account.

PS: BDG, Do us a favor and F*** off

But heres the thing....why would Fox EVEN LOOK AT DBZ websites if it wasn't made.....my point exactly. It mosdt Likley wasn't going to be made. But hey know that someone called Fox about the Movie...sinc ethey heard about it maybe they will make it. oh and one more thing.

PS: BDG go sc**w yourself

How people spit on the English language with such horrid grammar! Look at yourselves! No wonder many people from other countries don't understand us...we can't even understand ourselves. But I digress.

This movie was at one point confirmed..remember when FUNimation had the polls to see who would play Goku and Vegeta in the live action movie? They were polls, of course, not the real decisions, they were just for fun. The rights for the movie were claimed by FOX, I'll try and dig up the link for you guys of what really went down....so everyone quit biting each other's back! And please.....*sigh* quit putting each other down.

Well, i still say a DBZ movie wouldn't of hurt DBZ's rep, even if it was a bomb, i still would of liked to see it in live action, i could give a rats *** about the so-called "fans" that say a DBZ movie would kill DBZ, because i fail to see how. Look at the Final Fantasy series, it had a big bomb movie, and it's still just as popular as ever, just an example....

LOL. No, I simply have grown fond of commenting on this one for mere entertainment. Just kiddin'.

Yay! Another confirmation! Although I really don't agree it will be made anytime too soon..

Posted by FluffyJuney @ 04/26/2004 06:37 PM EST

OK, if there was a dbz lam, the dbz official site would post it...or something. I know the dbz site is lame, but they back me up in this area. They do not have official confirmation that a dbz lam will be made. The dbz off. website only says what fan sites have said.

LIVE ACTION MOVIE
UNCONFIRMED - NOT ENDORSED BY FUNimation Productions Ltd.
The following has been reported on www.kylehebert.com:

ILM ON DBZ LIVE ACTION MOVIE by Otherworld Steve

I decided to follow up a bit more regarding the rumored live action Dragon Ball/Z movie. One persistent rumor has been that "George Lucas' CGI company ILM has signed a contract to do the special effects."

Today I called Ellen Pasternack, Public Relations for ILM. I asked her if the rumor was true; if ILM was brought on board to provide the special effects for the Dragon Ball/Z live action movie. Ms. Pasternack's reply was that it had been mentioned, but ILM never officially signed off on anything and it never came to be. She also commented that, as far as she knows, the film is not being made.

So there you have it, folks. Another death nail in the DBZ live action movie coffin. That isn't to say that the film will never be made. There are other major studios besides FOX and other effects houses aside from ILM. Who knows ... maybe Wetta will snag this property to go along with the Evangelion live action movie. Only time will tell.

Edit: I just want to clarify that a.) FUNimation Productions has absolutely nothing to do with the concept/licensing for a Dragon Ball/Z live action movie. They hold the license for the anime/games/merchandise only, and b.) this website is NOT an official FUNimation website. It is just a promotional website for Kyle Hebert and goes beyond his association with FUNimation. I hope that clears some things up.

NO LIFE IN THE "DRAGONBALL" LIVE ACTION MOVIE? by Otherworld Steve

I literally JUST got off the phone with FOX Studios in Los Angeles, CA. I asked outright about the upcoming live action Dragon Ball/Z movie.

This is exactly what I was told by my contact:

"The Dragon Ball Z movie? We don't have that. I 've got a lot of calls about that so I called around [the studio]. We won't be making that [movie]."

So there you have it, folks. That is the OFFICIAL story from FOX. I know some of you may be disappointed, but I also think it's a blessing.

that's exactly what dbzsc posted... Makes you think that dbz.com is getting lazy huh?

I getting sick and tired of the same message by ILM ON DBZ LIVE ACTION MOVIE by Otherworld Steve.

I pray that the movie will be made.
It is not a blessing if its not made.
