On August 8, Nintendo will be releasing both a red Nintendo DS and Jump Superstars in Japan. The 2D fighter will feature 150 characters from 27 Shonen Jump titles including Dragonball Z, Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, Rurouni Kenshin, Yugioh!, Death Note, and more. Late last year, IGN.com got a shot at playing the game at the Jump Festa. While the game plays like a 2D Fighter, ala Street Fighter, it also has a secondary system involving a "Manga Deck." The deck allows players to select different cards in the bottom screen for various purposes including tagging in a new fighter, special attacks, and more. The Magic Box has a new gallery of images from the game, and it does look like fun.

For now, Jump! Super Stars will be a Japanese exclusive, and due to various issues it is unknown if it will see a release elsewhere.

A recent issue of Shonen Jump has reported that Bandai will be bringing the sequel to DBZ: Supersonic Warriors to Nintendo's newest handheld, the DS. The game will be a 2D fighter featuring a team battle system similar to that of Capcom Vs SNK 2's ratio system. At the moment the game seems to feature at least 16 playable characters, with the possiblity of unlockables and support characters. Combat will be the focus of the top screen, while the bottom screen shows the team characters. What other features the bottom screen are not known at this time. The game is set for a 4th quarter release in Japan, meaning sometime late this year.
